Garnier 'Ultimate Blends'

Okay so a couple of months ago this new shampoo and conditioner came out, as soon as I saw it I had to try it. My hair gets really used to shampoo and conditioner and after a while of using a certain one it starts to feel dry and I have to change to a new one, so here's my thoughts on this one.

Firstly, the price varies but I found it recently on offer in Superdrug at around £1.99. It comes in a range of 'types' (more information here) and you can take a quiz on the site to find your 'blend'. I literally just took the quiz and apparently my blend is the 'sleek restorer', maybe I'll try that in the future, but when I first bought it I bought the 'colour illuminator', so that is what I'll be reviewing.

Garnier Ultimate Blends - The Colour Illuminator

First of all, it smells amazing. Like seriously, it almost smells like perfume, usually I prefer fruity shampoo but this is divine and the smell lasts for ages too unlike most shampoo I've used in the past. Both the shampoo and conditioner are thick and creamy, with the shampoo lathering up really well so you only need to use a small amount - I bought this mid April and have only just run out despite using it almost everyday! After using both the shampoo and conditioner together, my hair feels soft and smooth and looks pretty healthy. I can't say much for how much it 'illuminates colour' because I dye my hair a dark blonde and in general the colour shampoos are focused on red or bright blonde hair, so I didn't see much of a difference in my colour but that wasn't my motivation for buying the duo anyway.

There was one major problem I found with the shampoo - after rinsing, my hair felt awfully dry (this may sound weird because my hair was obviously wet, I hope you know what I mean) and although the conditioner made it smooth and soft again, I ended up losing a lot more hair than I usually do after washing it. Of course, everyone loses some hair when washing it but this was a lot, and it happened every time too, it actually began to worry me that I was losing so much hair everyday! I'm not sure whether my hair just didn't agree with the shampoo or whether this has happened to other people, so I'm unsure whether to try a different type, maybe go with my recommended one this time. I think I will buy a completely different shampoo and conditioner next time and revisit this another time.

Let me know if you've tried this and what you thought! Did you have the same problem as me?

The Stanley Parable

A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend bought me this game. He got it in the Steam sale for £4.99 I think but it is currently £9.99.

This game isn't like many other games. You begin in an office room, facing a computer like the one you see in the picture, and you basically perform the actions that the narrator tells you to. There are choices though, for example, when you come to a room with two open doors the narrator tells you to take the door on the left but you have free roam within the game and you can go right if you want to (if you don't mind the narrator telling you off and being sarcastic).

I think this game is more about human curiosity and behaviour than anything. It would make a very good social experiment, to see how many people obeyed the narrator, one that doesn't have a face to his voice, and if they did obey him, for how long they did so.

The narrator is hilarious. I don't think I've ever actually laughed at a game as much as I did at this and it was very amusing disobeying his orders to see what he would say.
The game is very short if you play as you are told until the end, but there are a number of different endings and various things you can change on each run, so the replay-ability is good.

I definitely recommend the game if you just want to have a laugh and a play about for a while, but if you hate repetitive gameplay then it is really not for you! Also, achievement hunters may find it a little frustrating as there is an achievement that the game says is impossible to get, and after reading up on it, it seems like the developers alter the way that this achievement is gained via updates! Which I think is pretty cool.

Let me know what you think of the game, or if you have played anything similar in the past!

Leibster Award

Firstly, if you're interested here are the rules for the award:
  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  2. Answer the eleven questions he/she asks.
  3. Nominate eleven bloggers.
  4. Ask these eleven bloggers eleven questions.
  5. Let these eleven bloggers know that they have been nominated.

SO, I was nominated by Pixxie Penguin, here are her 11 questions answered by me!

1) when looking for a book to read, does the front cover make a big part in the decision process? If I'm looking for a new book in a book shop, I will scan a shelf and see which cover catches my eye then read the blurb and see if I think I will like it. But if I have been recommended a book or I have read books by the same author previously, then the cover doesn't put me off or anything if it looks crap. So I would say it influences my decision slightly!

2) Which book (if any) do you think is better as a film? I don't think I've ever read a book that has film that is better than it! I think TV shows are different though, I haven't read Game of Thrones yet, but the book has to be bloody good to be as good as the TV shows. Similarly, I haven't read the Hannibal books but I doubt very much that the books are better.

3) what is your favourite film? I don't actually know my favourite film. I love Marley and Me but it makes me cry so much, I love Marvel films in general, and I love Disney films, especially Lilo and Stitch!

4) Favourite TV show/series? Hannibal is my favourite TV show. It is AMAZING, I've never watched anything like it.

5) if you could meet one person living or dead for a day, who would it be? I may be considered a psycho for this but I'd actually like to meet Hitler, I want to know what he was like as a person on a one to one basis, because he must have been a bloody good 'people' person. OR, I'd love to meet Karl Pilkington and Misha Collins.

6) Favourite food? I love all food. I really like any sort of tomato pasta dish or chicken tikka. Or cheesecake. Yum.

7) Best take away/ Restaurant ? I love Nando's!! I also love the Chinese buffet in Sunderland.

8) Favourite sport. I don't really like sport. Well, I don't like watching it, but I always loved playing badminton at school!

9) A sport/exercise you wish you could be better at? Swimming because I can't really swim.

10) A guilty pleasure, or comfort item.  I don't really think I have any! I have a lot of penguin teddies if they count?

11) Favourite place to be. I love being in bed with my boyfriend watching our TV shows on his laptop. It's so cosy and nice!

My turn!
I don't actually think I know 11 bloggers, so I'll just leave my 11 questions here, feel free to answer them and comment and let me know that you've done it so I can check out your blog! :)

1. If you could have one wish granted right now, what would it be?
2. What is one mystery/question you wish you had the answer to?
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?
4. Your thoughts on religion and why?
5. What do you spend the most money on?
6. If you had infinite money, what would you do first?
7. If you were president for 1 year, what would you change?
8. What is/was your favourite subject in school and why?
9. Where was your best holiday ever?
10. What makes you happiest?
11. Why do you blog?

Don't forget to comment and let me know you answered! Have fun :)

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 27, 28, 29 & 30

I missed four days of my blog challenge! I don't even know what I've been doing with myself. Anyway, here they are...

Day 27: What is your favourite part of your body and why?
I like my wrists because they're thin and my hands are alright because my nails usually look neat. I don't think there is anything else I like really.

Day 28: What is your love language?
Okay, so I didn't know what this meant so I looked it up. Apparently there are five 'love languages':
- Words of affirmation: spoken praise and appreciation
- Acts of service: physically doing something to help your partner
-  Receiving gifts: from small, cheap or homemade gifts to expensive and elaborate ones
- Quality time: taking a small portion of time out of your day to sit and be with your partner and nothing else
- Physical touch: anything that requires you and your partner to touch and be close
After reading about it, I think my love language is 'physical touch', for me, a cuddle from my boyfriend makes everything better.

Day 29: What do you think people misunderstand most about you?
I think people think I'm a bit of a tough nut. I think that's because I'm an angry person, and I will speak my mind. But I'm actually a giant softie. I do complain a lot and I get angry easily, but if there was nothing to be angry over then I wouldn't be. I'd be the happiest person in the world if the world was a nice place to be. I think the tough nut exterior is a good thing in general, but I think people underestimate how emotional I can actually be, which is sometimes a bad thing because they could upset me and not even know it.

Day 30: List 10 things you would hope to be remembered for.
You know, I don't think there are ten things I want to be remembered for! I would love people to remember me for the times I made them happy and for the things we did together. I would want people to think that there lives were made better by me and that I was a good person and most of all a good wife and mum. That's it really, as long as people remember me for that, I will be happy.

So that's my blog challenge done! I know I didn't do it everyday but I had fun and maybe you know a little bit more about me now. Thanks for reading!
